100 Days of School | Sarah Millerhouse | April 2024 Color Kitz

Hello! It’s Sarah Millerhouse here, and I am so excited to share another layout using the beautiful April Color Kitz!

For this layout, I started with matte opaque texture paste on the background. I applied it to my mixed media cardstock in a thick layer, using my palette knife. I then used a bench scraper to slice lines horizontally through the paste while it was still wet. This gave me some thick, perfectly imperfect lines going across for added texture. Once it dried, I added Coloringz - Well Blue Me Down and Coloringz - Sunny Side Up on top of the texture paste, letting it mix and bland a little along the lines. 

I layered on patterned paper from the April Color Kitz Paper collection and added my two photos. I then created the title using Creameez - Piggy Pink, Coloringz - Sunny Side Up, and Creameez - Luck O The Irish (Bonuz Bundle) and stamps from CraftyMe. I love the layered number stamps and how they look with all the Shimmerz goodness behind them. I finished the title with letters from my stash and ephemera from the April colllection. 

I used patterned paper from the April collection and a past Shimmerz Paints cutfile to cut the layered flowers for the page. I love how these look cut from patterned paper and white cardstock as the flower border. 

To finish the page, I used the sequins from the Bonuz Bundle and Pops of Color to add a few extra details.

I stenciled Prima Platinum Texture Paste with a small spatula onto watercolor paper measuring 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. I taped on flowers, glued on beads and other items, and I brushed on                                                                Shimmerz Paints I rubbed on gold mica powder on different areas. 

                 I glued on slightly larger pieces of watercolor paper underneath the top piece.

When I painted these, I used a watercolor brush and brushed on water on about a quarter of the atc, then put the color on. Whatever I felt like adding I waited til the first coat was dry, then put on more color. These are very fine watercolors, the shimmer and shine is amazing.  

On the above atc I used several different colors on the edges. Shades of purple, blue, pretty much wound up with Twinkle Twinkle on top of Ultra Marine. That's about what shows anyway.

 To add visual interest I added seed beads,pearls,sequins, glass glitter,glass beads, flowers, feathers,   tulle,and fussy cut images from Graphic 45 papers. I punched holes and added wire to make a hanger. I glued on a piece of cardstock the same size of the ATC on the back. I'll sign my name on them.

Hi friends! Have you seen the amazing April 2024 Color & Paper Kitz? They are absolutely gorgeous and packed full of stunning colors. 

I started off using strips of the pastel colored papers from the kitz and tore them on the edges. To conceal where the straight line of the papers ended, I clustered several of the pretty florals. I made my own cloud stencil out of a piece of acetate and used Blue Jeans to stencil clouds in the sky.

I used the sentiment phrases inside the layers to put cute little words all over the paper strips. I finished the clusters off with the adorable little bird house die cut.

I used some Shimmerz Paint in green to make some grass and used dragon flies, frogs, a snail, and a bicycle to make an outdoor scene on the bottom of my page. The hot air balloons were a perfect touch to this layout, and I used the blue balloon to conceal people in the background of the photo.

March Showers Using the April Color Kitz Bundle

Hello all!  Nicole here using the April Color Kitz Bundle to make this rainy day page!

First thing I did for this layout was grab my , background that I made during my unboxing video with the Sunny Side Up Coloringz, Well Blue Me Down Coloringz, and the Blue Jeans Vibez.  

I then tried to find some tone on tone papers to go with my background.  I tore them up and overlapped them with my photo.

I used some fussy cut flowers, stickers and ephemera from the kit to make little clusters all over my page.  I finished with buttons and sequins from my stash and some journaling.
